OXIDISING ADDITION OF OXYGEN OR REMOVAL OF HYDROGEN FROM A GIVEN COMPOUND IS CALLED OXIDATION

REDUCING - ADDITION OF HYDROGEN OR REMOVAL OF OXYGEN FROM THE GIVEN COMPOUND IS CALLED REDUCTION

SO WE UNDERSTAND OXIDISING IS GAINING OF OXYGEN AND REDUCING IS LOSING AN OXYGEN
