Chemical reactivity of alkali metals increase when going from top to bottom because in the case of alkali metals the reactivity depends on its atomic size as we go down the group the atomic size of the elemnt increases resulting in the easy loss of its valence electron. For example sodium is less reactive than potassium beacause k has bigger atomic size than Na which makes it to lose the valence electron easily as the force lf attraction between the nuclues and the valence shell of k is weak than that of the Na. While in case of halogens which are non metals in nature as oppostie to thag of metals. There reactivitu depends on the decrement in the atomic size of the element. And more we go down the the atomic gets increased resulting in less reactivity.
