The reaction between an acid and a base to form salt is called a neutralisation reaction.
For e.g.
NaOH + HCl → NaCl + H2O
Mg (OH)2 + H2SO4 →MgSO4 + 2H2O
The reaction in which the formation of precipitate takes place when a suitable reagent is added to the reactant is called a precipitation n reaction.
For e.g. NaCl + AgNO3 → AgCl + NaNO3
