Hydrogen halides are gases that dissolve in water to give acids  which are commonly known as hydrohalic acids.

Hypofluorous acid is the chemical compound with the formula HOF. It is an intermediate in the oxidation of water by fluorine, which produces hydrogen fluoride and oxygen. It is the only hypohalous acid that can be isolated as a solid. HOF is explosive, decomposing to oxygen and HF.

"A binary acids series are formed by halogens are called Hydrohalic acids. Examples of Hydrohalic acids are HF, HCl, HBr. The strength of hydrohalic acids lies completely depending upon the electronegativity of halogen atom which is attached to the hydrogen.

Acid strength of hydrohalic acids is given below.

HF < HCl < HBr < HI

A hydroxyl group is attached to a halogen with a single bond called Hypohalous acids. The example of Hypohalous acids is HOCl and HOBr.

The acid strength of Hypohalous acids is as follows.

HOI > HOBr > HOCl."
