Cherrapunji and Mawsynram in Meghalaya get about 1100 CM rains in the year where as Jaisalmer in Rajasthan Hardly receives 9 CM of rainfall in a year give reason ​

This is because cherrapunji is located in windward side of gharo- khasi hills which stop the Monsoon wind and it shed rain over there.

Jaislmer is located in leeward side of aravali range that's Why monsoon winds not got stopped and it doesn't shed rain there.
