Answer:

Fifteen years ago, the international community made a commitment to provide universal primary school education for all children. While considerable progress has been made, today there are still 57 million primary school aged children out of school.

Save the Children is working to ensure that every child receives a good quality education, and learns the skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century. We are breaking down the barriers to education by helping poor and vulnerable children – including those who are living in conflict and disaster zones - access early childhood and primary school services. Our work is leading the way in improving literacy and numeracy skills, helping teachers to teach and children to learn. Through our work, we are supporting out-of-school young people access training in a skill or occupation, so that they can get a job which provides them with enough money to survive.

Children of poor families are deprived of education and set out to work because of the following reasons.

  • The poor people just have the focus on surviving each day, they do not have much money to fulfill their desires.
  • The poor families think that if all the members of the family would start working then they would earn more and they will not have to sleep with an empty stomach.
  • These poor children find education to be an unnecessary in their lives, because firstly they want to fill their stomachs with food, have clothes on their bodies and for their families even.
  • These children are really weak, malnutritioned and do not want to study, instead they want to earn some money so that they can at least get the basic amenities/ necessities.
