Chlorine has seven electrons in its valence shell. It accepts an electron to complete its octet and becomes a chlorine ion (Cl-). What is the nature of this chlorine ion?

it's anion,in character. more over it's negative charged and always deposits at anode.

Chlorine ion is anionic in nature. Chlorine is a halogen which gains electron from the others to get stabilized.

It holds the place 17th in the periodic table and known as the second lightest element among the halogens. It is a strong oxidizing element and exist as a yellow-green colored gas in room temperature.
