Verbs: Active and Passive Voice
A transitive verb ( a verb which has an object ) has two voices:
Active voice
Passive voice
When the subject of a verb also performs the action named in the verb, the verb is said to be in the active voice. For an example :
The teacher is respected by Samir.
When the subject of a verb receives the action named in the verb, the verb is said to be in the passive voice. For an example:
Samir respects the teacher.
The object or the subject may be a long phrase instead of a single word. But when the sentence in the active voice is rewritten in the passive voice, the whole phrase will change its position.
