In this case, iron fillings and sulfur powder i.e. sulfur are made to mix with each other and then they are treated with sulfuric acid(dilute in its form).
Basically iron would react with sulfuric acid here and as a result of this, hydrogen gas will be evolved. Also, this will be indicated by the presence of a colorless and odorless gas which is none other than hydrogen.
There will be no change in state of sulfur.
So, the reaction would be:
Fe+ H2SO4 → FeSO4+H2
