Given:-

  • Choose the correct Verb in agreement with its subject-.

For No.1):-

  • Waits

Time and tide waits for no one.

For No.2):-

  • was

Each boy and girl was given a certificate.

For No.3):-

  • is

Everyone in the class is going for the picnic.

For No.4):-

  • Has

The captain, along with his teammates; Has played well .

For No.5):-

  • is

The swarm of bees is buzzing around in the garden.

Explanation:-(For Each case)

  • hey mate! Know more about the answer provided above.

In first case the word 'waits' was chosen instead of 'wait' as here in the statement we have been talking about more than 1 person.

  • So as we already know that plural noun=Singular verb , so according to this we filled in the blank with word 'waits'

  • Now the confusion here occurs that the word 'waits' has 's' in last which means it is a plural verb but no its nit the concept according to verb action words with letter 's' in last are singular (single) not plural( more than 1).

  • On following this rule the other 4 blanks too have been filled.

Now let's know about the second case where we inserted 'was' instead of 'were'.

  • Hey mate! this concept too is as easy as the first one just here there is past form of verb.

  • We know that was stands for past action with plural .

  • Hence here too there are multiple number of boys and girls (more than 1) so we have been using was.

The concept for 3rd is same as 1st so remember the points of 1st you will easily know about third too.

hey mate! Now 4 have the same concept of 2nd

And last one has same concept of 1st

hope it helped!
