Given:

A circular current carrying loop has been provided.

To find:

Diagram that depicts the magnetic field around the current carrying loop.

Solution:

A simple methodto find out the direction of the magnetic field around the current carrying loop is to apply The Right Hand Thumb Rule.

• Align the thumb along the direction of current in the conductor.

• The folding of the fore fingers will they pick the direction of the magnetic field at any point.

Using this thumb rule , we can conclude:

• If the current is flowing anti-clockwise, then the net magnetic field at the centre of the loop will be directed upwards and perpendicular to plane of the coil

• If the current is flowing clockwise, net magnetic field at the centre of the loop will be directed downwards and perpendicular to the plane of the coil.
