diameter = 35.56 cm

area of pie =( 35.56 ×35.56)÷ 4× 3.14

992.64

if he it 1/8 part of pie remaining part will be 992.64 ×1/8= 124.08 ( approx)

Given:

Diameter of the pie=14 inch

To find:

The area of the remaining portion of the pie

Solution:

The required area of the pie's remaining portion is 134.75 inch^{2}.

We can obtain the required area by deducting the 1/8th part's area eaten by Chris from the pie's area.

The pie's radius=diameter/2=14/2=7 inches

So, the pie's area=πr^{2}

Using the value of r,

Pie's area=π×7×7

=22/7×7×7

=22×7

=154 inch^{2}

Now, the area eaten=1/8

So, the area of pie eaten =154×1/8

=19.25inch^{2}

The remaining pie's area=Total area- area eaten

Using the values,

=154-19.25

=134.75 inch^{2}

Therefore, the required area of the pie's remaining portion is 134.75 inch^{2}.
