chromatin fibres are visible in non dividing cell and chromosomes are visible in dividing cell. Chromosomes contain Gene's. So when the cell division is over, chromatin are visible. And these chromatin also contain information that is passed from 1 generation to another.

 Every organism has it's pair of chromosomes . Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes. These chromosomes carry genes i.e the unit of inheritance . During fertilization these genes are passed to the off springs .
