Chromatography is an advanced technique of separation in which individual components of a mixture are separated from each other using the property of differential migration (different rates of flow). Here a mobile phase, carrying the mixture is passed through a adsorbent stationary phase, which can retain the components of mixture to different pigments.
Aim: to perform Chalk Chromatography
Apparatus required:
Chalk, Ink dye, Rubbing alcohol(water can also be used) ,small trough,
Procedure:apply ink on piece of chalk piece about 1cm end of the chalk.
pour enough of rubbing alcohol or water into bottom of a trough so that the liquid level is about half a centimeter.

Place the chalk in the trough containing alcohol or water, see that the ink does not touch the alcohol or water.

Observation:
We can observe the different colour rising up the chalk within a few minutes.
