Chromosomes are made of DNA to be exact. Chromosomes are a highly coiled form of DNA. DNA ,which is made of nucleic acids ,is a very very long polymer. To fit into a cell it needs to be supercolied. It coils around a some proteins (histone proteins) forming a nucleosome. Further these nucleosomes are coiled to form solenoids which are themselves coiled around many proteins. So chromosomes are made up of DNA but contains many other biolmolecules too , RNA , histone proteins , non histone proteins etc.
