Here it has been said that Chubukov was under the presumption that He could give his daughter married off well with Lomov. He had long been in wait for the two to get tied up.

However, just when Lomov started to think whether Natalya would agree or disagree to the marriage proposal, it was Chubukov who affirmed the fact first without been thinking about what Natalya would say or want. Natalya on the other hand had love towards earthly things and animals over anyone else.

Hence there was a fight that constantly happened between the two partners.
