Cities are growing faster than the capacity of the economy to support them. ... The economy does not support cities. Cities are institutions people use to (among other things) support the economy. Generally, people in cities are both more productive and cheaper to support than people living outside cities.

(1) Growth or expansion of cities leads to continuous growing demands of basic needs. (2) Growing population requires more jobs. Job opportunities do not increase in equivalant to the rate or pace of population increase. (3) More population needs more efficient and better transportation. (4) People also need houses to live in but the land is fixed. As a result, flat system or apartment system has started. (5) More people need more water. Most of the urban centres face the problem of water scarcity or water is supplied only for fixed hours.
