CBSE Board Exams 2019: 5 Expert Tips for excelling in Mathematics
Sample Papers:
Mathematics is one subject that can have questions that are similar but different from the course-book. Teachers advised students to start with sample papers as early as December. Some of the students who score above 90 – 95 marks in the subject ideally cover a lot of ground in sample papers. There is no maximum number of sample papers. But to excel in mathematics, students should hope to start doing at least 2 sample papers in a week so that they have done at least 20 before the examination begins.
Practice makes perfect:
This has been the mantra for success in mathematics for a very long time. But what is it that students should practice? Teachers suggest that repeating the questions that they often err in is one such practice. Another practice which teachers strongly recommend are calculations. Repeat the theorems, re-write them and solve those geometry questions you often forget, is what teachers advise the students.
Visual Aids help:
Teachers advise students to have visual aids in their rooms. Formulae, tables and other identities that are in the syllabus can be written in bold and colourful hand and kept someplace where the student is expected to look often. It could be the walls of the student’s rooms or just above the study table.
Repeat NCERT exercises again:
Students often finish the NCERT in the schools and then move on to the various reference books available in the market. Teachers urge students to start and revise the complete NCERT book once again. It should take the students about a month and half to complete the book again but the practice would ensure that the students are thorough with the questions. Remember, teachers tell the students, that the CBSE Board Exam question papers are based entirely on the NCERT textbooks.
Refer to NCERT Question Banks or Exemplars:
Many students are not aware that NCERT has also released question banks for many subjects and mathematics is available. Teachers who have used the same claim that the content is exceptional and offer in-depth practice material. So if a student is looking out for some reference book, start with NCERT. What’s more, it is available for free.
