The C.B.S.E. N.C.E.R.T. syllabus for class IX English Language, Unit 3 is a chapter based on "Modals".
By considering this, let us talk in brief about Modals.
They are sometimes referred to as modal verbs, or by another name i.e modal auxiliaries. The striking feature for such verbs is that they do not follow the normal pattern of conventional rules.
They are used to serve some extra information about the main verb, used in the particular sentence. There are a number of modal verbs like that of "can" and corresponding "could", may and might, will and would etc.
In certain cases, as suggested in the class 9 text book textual questions and answers(in the form of MATCH THE FOLLOWING), it would be found that "will" is a Modal used to talk about future time.
So, they might explain a fact or a certainty, or predict about something that might soon happen, or to describe about something that has already happened before.
On a thorough reading of the textual questions), we would find that modals might also be used while making a promise about something or focus on something that is most likely to occur, or just to make a random guess about something that might or might not happen.
