The transfer of pollen grains from stamen to stigma is called pollination. Pollination is of two types:
1) Cross pollination
2) Self pollination
The fusion of the male germ cell with the female germ cell is called fertilization.
HOST FERTILIZATION EVENTS:
1) After fertilization, the zygote divides repeatedly to form an embryo within the ovule.
2) The embryo develops a tough coat and gets converted into a seed.
3) The ovary becomes enlarged and ripens to form a fruit.
4) the other parts of the flower like stamen, style, stigma, carpel and sepals may shrivel and fall off.
5) The seed contains the future plant or the embryo which develops into a seedling under appropriate conditions and the process is known as germination.
Unisexual flowers are the flowers which contain either stamens or carpels(Pistil). Eg: Watermelon, Papaya
Bisexual flowers are the flowers which contain both stamen and carpel(Pistil). Eg: Hibiscus, Mustard
