Answer:

Question :-

➸ Classify as polynomial :-

(i) 5x - 2√2

(ii) 9 - 8u²

(iii) 8 - x³ + 2x²

(iv) 7

Solution :-

\sf\bold{\underline{\purple{i)\: 5x - 2\sqrt{2}\: :-}}}\\

\dashrightarrow \bf 5 x - 2\sqrt{2}

➳ It has two terms.

So, it is binomial.

➳ Polynomial with degree 1.

So, it is Linear Polynomial.

\\

\sf\bold{\underline{\purple{ii)\: 9 - 8u^2\: :-}}}\\

\dashrightarrow \bf 9 - 8u^2

By doing re-arrange we get,

\dashrightarrow \sf\bold{\red{- 8u^2 + 9}}

➳ It has two terms.

So, it is binomial.

➳ Polynomial with degree 2.

So, it is Quadratic Polynomial.

\\

\sf\bold{\underline{\purple{iii)\: 8 - x^3 + 2x^2\: :-}}}\\

\dashrightarrow \bf 8 - x^3 + 2x^2

By doing re-arrange we get,

\dashrightarrow \sf - x^3 + 8 + 2x^2

\dashrightarrow \sf\bold{\red{- x^3 + 2x^2 + 8}}\\

➳ It has three terms.

So, it is trinomial.

➳ Polynomial with degree 3.

So, it is Cubic Polynomial.

\\

\sf\bold{\underline{\purple{iv)\: 7\: :-}}}\\

\dashrightarrow \bf 7

➳ It has one terms.

So, it is monomial.

➳ Polynomial with degree 0.

So, it is Constant Polynomial.

EXTRA INFORMATION :-

Type Of Polynomial :-

\implies Based on the number of terms in a polynomial, there are 3 types of polynomial :

Monomial :

  • A polynomial whose having one terms is called Monomial.
  • Example : 6, 10ab

Binomial :

  • A polynomial whose having two terms is called Binomial.
  • Example : 4x + 2, 9p + 2

Trinomial :

  • A polynomial whose having three terms is called Trinomial.
  • Example : 5x² + 6x - 10, 7a² + 8a + 4
