On the basis of origin, there are 3 types of meristematic tissue

i) Primardial meristem or promeristem is also called as embryonic meristem; occupying small area at tip of root & school.

ii) Primory meristem originates from primordial meristem. occurs in the plant body from beginnging, at root & shoot apices.

iii) Secondary meristematic tissues develop from living permanent tissues during later stages of plant growth, hence called secondary meristem.

iv) It occurs in mature regions of root & shoot of many plants.

v) It is always lateral in position eg - fasicular cambium, inter fasicular cambium, cork cambium
