on the basis of the location northern plains r classified into three
Punjab plains Ganga plains and Brahmaputra plains
Punjab plains r lying in the western part of northern plains made of indus and it's tributaries Beas ,Ravi,Sutlej , Chenab and Jhelum
Ganga plains lies between ghaggar and teesta rivers spread over states of Haryana , up , Bihar , Delhi partly Jharkhand and west Bengal
brahamputra on the east of Ganga plains lies this plains in Assam

1] Indus and its tributaries [ Jalam, Sutlej, Chenag, Beas and Revi ] together form the Punjab plains.

2] River Ganga and its tributaries [ Gomati, Gandak, Yamuna.........] forms the Ganga plains.

3] River Brahmaputra and its tributaries together form the Brahmaputra plains.
