Resources are classified based on the following-

on the basis of origin- biotic resources ( flora ,fauna ,human beings) & abiotic resources ( rocks , metals ,etc )
on the basis of Exhaustibility- renewable resources ( solar, wind,etc) & non-renewable resources ( fossil fuels)
on the basis of ownership- individual resources ( car, assets ,etc) ; community owned resources ( public parks, picnic spots,etc) ; national resources ( wildlife,forest, oceanic area upto 12 nautical miles) & international resources ( oceanic resources beyond 200 nautical miles of the Exclusive Economic Zone)
on the basis of status of development- potential resources ( resources that are found but have not been utilised like solar energy of Rajasthan) ; developed resources ( resources which are found and are being utilised like building, automobile,etc) ; stock( resources which are found but we don't have proper technology to utilise them) & reserves ( subset to stock, resources can be put to use with the existing technology but their use has not started yet).
