On   the  basis  of  location,  Northern  plains  can  be  classified  into  three.

1]  Indus  and  its  tributaries  [ Jalam,  Sutlej,  Chenag,  Beas  and  Revi ]  together  form  the  Punjab  plains.


2]  River  Ganga  and  its  tributaries [ Gomati,  Gandak,  Yamuna.........]  forms  the  Ganga  plains.


3]  River  Brahmaputra  and  its  tributaries  together  form  the  Brahmaputra  plains.

On the basis of location the northern plains are classified into:

1) River Indus and it's tributaries - (Jhelum,Chenab,Ravi,Beas and Satluj) forms PUNJAB PLAINS

2) River ganga and its tributaries forms GANGA PLAINS

3) River Brahmaputra and it's tributaries forms BRAHMAPUTRA PLAINS
