Organisms are classified in an ecosystem as per the manner in which they obtain their sustenance from the environment into Producer, Consumer and Decomposer.
1. Producer - Producers are those green plant which can prepare their own food with the help of light energy from sun, carbondioxide from air and water from soil. The food produced is in the form of glucose or any other form of sugar. E.g- Green plants and blue green algae.
2. Consumer- Consumers are those organisms that can't make its own food and are dependent on the food that is produced by the producers for their survival. E.g - Herbivore, carnivore, parasite etc
3. Decomposer- These are the organisms which break down the dead remains and waste products of other organisms. They break down the complex inorganic substances into simple organic substances that goes into the soil and are again used up by the plants. E.g- microorganisms
