In India many people are poor. They live in
rural areas where clean drinking water is not available. They have to travel a
long way each day to fetch some pots of water. In some towns water is polluted
and has shortage of good minerals required by human bodies.
Clean India or Swach Bharat Abhiyan includes a promise to supply
every citizen of India clean drinking water at their places of residence.
For this the ministry of Urban and Rural development have done a
lot of things. Many water filters were arranged in rural areas. There water is
sold at very cheap rates. In schools clean water arrangements are done.
The efforts done so far are still not enough. There are many
villages still lacking in supply of fresh water.
There is also a campaign to clean rivers. Swch Ganga or Namami
Gange campaign is launched formally by the government. Thousands of
crores are allocated for these campaigns. The main aim is to clean Ganges water
removing dirt, garbage, harmful chemicals and industrial wastes, and dead
organisms.
A number of voluntary organizations also work for the same
objective. Due to lack of clean water and fluoridated water many rural
people fall sick with chronic diseases and die each year. Their life is
pathetic.
It is really needed to fulfil the objective of Swach Bharat
Abhiyan or Clean Water campaign. Then only India will progress. Then only the
government can say that it fulfilled an objective for which it was elected.
A country where people are not having good water to drink , cannot be called a
country of 21st century.

As per the statistics published by the Government of India on Swachh Bharat Mission more than 10 crore toilets have been built during the mission across the country. 36 Indian states have been declared defecation free and hence the mission has largely improved the lifestyle of a common Indian man.
Our government is doing every bit to make sure that our country becomes cleaner and more hygienic by every passing day, and as responsible citizens, it is our duty to make sure that we do our bit to help with this noble mission. The cleanliness of our surroundings is our responsibility, not only when it comes to our houses but also when it comes to public places like parks, tourist attractions, and public toilets. The cleanliness in public places not only improves the standard of living of our countrymen but it also gives a very positive image about India to the tourist that visit us from foreign countries.
Mahatma Gandhi had a dream of a cleaner and healthier India and he emphasized it time and again during his lifetime. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a step towards fulfilling of this beautiful dream of the father of our nation. Shri Narendra Modi himself initiated the cleanliness drive at the beginning of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan to spread awareness about the mission and its importance. Picking up the broom to clean the dirt, making Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a mass movement across the nation, the Prime Minister said people should neither litter nor let others litter. He gave the mantra of ‘Na gandagi karenge, Na karne denge’.
