You can form carbonic acid: H2O + CO2 = H2CO3. (The = here indicates an equilibrium). An example is a sealed bottle of soda water, which contains carbonic acid. ... To reestablish the equilibrium pressure of CO2, the reverse reaction of above happens, decomposing some of the H2CO3 and bubbling out CO2.
