if you want the answer to be factorised then use the second method otherwise, in order to find the coefficient of x just multiply both terms of the first bracket by all of the second

Answer: 4

We first simplify the expression as follows:

(3x+x^3)(x+\frac{1}{x}) \\ \\ = (3x\times x) + (3x\times \frac{1}{x}) + (x^3\times x) + (x^3 \times \frac{1}{x}) \\ \\ = 3x^2+3+x^4+x^2 \\ \\ = x^4+4x^2+3

We see that the term 4x^2 appears in the simplified expression.

So, Coefficient of \bold{x^2} is 4.
