Given:

Colin spends his wages on:

Rent → \frac{1}{3}

Food → \frac{1}{4}

Colin makes £ 636 per week

To find:

The amount, Colin will left with, after spending his wages

Solution:

Wages per week of Colin = £ 636

So,

The amount spent on rent from his wages = \frac{1}{3} * 636 = £ 212

and

The amount spent on food from his wages = \frac{1}{4} * 636 = £ 159

∴ After spending on rent and food, the amount of money Colin will have,

= [Total Wages] - [Total amount spent]

= £ 636 - [£ 159 + £ 212]

= 636 - £ 371

= £ 265

Thus, Colin will be left with £ 265.
