Silk route is the major land route of the oldest times. It is also known as the Silk Road. It connected Asia to Europe, Central Asia and Africa. It was given name “silk” because of a high percentage of trade was carried out in Silk on this route. It connects India to Central Asia passing through China.
Communication routes in regions of high altitude are through helicopter and high-altitude railways like the Quinghai railway in China linking Lhasa (capital of Tibet) with the rest of the world. In September 2013, a proposal for a new silk road economic belt was given by the Xi Jinping, president of China from China to Europe.
