LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY
The loss of biodiversity is grave challenge confronting both rural India and urban India today. The rural folksmen regularly wash their clothes in rivers, as a result of which chemicals enter into the organs of water organisms and they eventually die. At the same time, deforestation on a massive scale for agricultural and timber purposes has led to a habitat loss for animals and has led to a decline in biodiversity. The elephant, for instance, and even the population of tigers have been severely affected.
