Collect the data for maximum and minimum temperature for last 20 days in the current

month.

(i) Find the range of the data

(ii) Find the mean deviation of the data

(iii) Draw the frequency polygon based on this data

Answer:

r = 11, M.D = 2.4

Step-by-step explanation:

First let us make a data for the temperatures.

 27, 25, 29, 30. 33, 24, 27, 27, 23, 24

We will arrange this in ascending order, so we have

23, 24, 24, 25, 27, 27, 27, 29, 30, 34

So range is given by h - l (highest - lowest)

    r = 34 - 23 or r = 11

To find mean deviation we need to find mean of the data.

  So mean = 23,+ 24,+ 24,+ 25,+ 27,+ 27,+ 27,+ 29,+ 30,+ 34 / 10

                  = 270 / 10 = 27

Formula to use is ∑ I X - μ I / N

Now we can write

     Value                            distance from 27

       23                                        4

        24                                       3

        24                                        3

        25                                        2

       27                                         0

       27                                          0

       27                                          0

       29                                          2

       30                                           3

       34                                            7

Mean deviation = 4 + 3+3 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 3 + 7 /10 = 24 / 10 = 2.4

By using this data we can plot the graph.
