We get from the optics, that dispersion is the phenomenon in which white gets split into a band of seven colours after passing through a medium in which the colours will have different speeds.

We see many of these phenomenon occurring daily such as the formation of rainbow when its raining with sun or during a cloudy day.

Also, we see that when light enters through a window glass it gets refracted and also gets reflected. We know this fact due to seeing objects through the glass due to refraction and also seeing our own image due to reflection through that glass.
