The sentences in the form of compound sentence are:

i) Make haste or you shall miss the train.

ii) He is severely ill but he attends classes regularly.

iii) He had no money which is why he left his studies.

iv) This boy did not come and this boy did not inform anybody.

Compound Sentences:

  • A compound sentence contains conjunction that joins the two clauses of the sentence together. The clauses may be dependent or totally independent. When there is a condition that shows the dependency of one clause on other we call it a compound sentence.
  • The words joining these clauses in a compound sentence are called coordinators.
  • There are two clauses given in all the sentences above, we join these clauses using the coordinator used for compound sentence.
  • Let's take an example, in the (i) sentence the two clauses are 'Make haste' and 'You shall miss the train'. As the coordinator "or" is brought in the sentence it totally joins these two clauses and forms a new sentence.
