Hypotonic solution is a solution in which there is less concentration in the medium outside a cell.

Eg- An animal cell placed in distilled water.

Hypertonic solution is a solution in which there is more concentration in the medium outside the cell.

Eg- An animal cell placed in Sucrose solution whose concentration is more than that of the cell.

Isotonic solution is a solution which has same concentration inside and outside the cell.

Eg- An animal cell placed in a solution which has same concentration as of the cell.
