First 30 years after Independence of India

This was a period of testing, and transition. From dependence to self sufficiency, From slavery to liberty.

Though the first 30 years ended with emergence, If you compare all the 30 years, India have gained more than what it lost.

First of these is, The setting up of a multi party democracy. India could conduct free and fair elections, and The government if lost in the elections, gave the Victor's chance to form government. This also showed that, If government can't work for the interest of the people, It shall be downturned.

These period also resulted in the linguist division of the country. People thought it would weaken the country, But it became a boon for the country.

The very same period India built its own military and helped Bangladesh to gain independence. India also became self sufficient in food production.

We could set up a Planning commission. And, Five year plans working for the goals of development were started. India could promise its citizens a great degree of freedom, civil liberty.

Only thing that lacked is the concentration on Public health and Education. Countries like Japan and Korea which also started their rehabilitation, did better in these sectors.Untouchability as what was known before independence was abolished. Yet gender and caste discrimination continued.

Development of Industries took place, but it happened unevenly. Some Regions developed more than others. Land reforms took place under Nehru's Leadership.

Overall, India strengthed its democracy and started its mission to develop in these years. India could hold onto its integrity and maintain unity
