Urine is a diagnostic fluid next to blood. A change in composition of urine occurs in some endocrine disorders, many metabolic diseases and infections of kidney, renal pelvis, urinary tract, urinary bladder, prostate gland, and urethra.

Endocrine disorders: diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, etc.

Metabolic disorders: phenylketonuria, alkaptonuria, porphyria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, hepatic and post-hepatic jaundice, etc.

Pathologies of urinary system: glomerulo- nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, urinary tract infections, TB and carcinoma of kidney, renal tubular defect, tumors of urinary bladder, etc.
