The correct order of the Earth's layers starting from the surface:

Crust, mantle, outer core, inner core.  (Option c)

  • The crust (0-61km thickness) is the outermost layer and the surface that we see. It is where we humans and all other living organisms exist. It is a layer composed of solid ro-cks.
  • The mantle (2901km thickness). It is the widest layer composed of magma that is the molten form of ro-cks. It is the movement of the mantle that is said to be the movement of earth's plates.
  • The outer core is of extremely high temperatures and as a result, all the metals (nickel, iron) present in this layer are in their liquid form. This layer surrounds the inner core.
  • The inner core has even higher temperatures and hence the hottest layer of the earth. Due to very high pressures, the metals (nickel, iron) cannot exist in liquid form and keeps vibrating continuously.
