Thermal energy is defined as the kinetic energy of the system. It is also a function of number of molecules or the  mass of the matter contained in the system. Greater the mass more the thermal energy. So pacific ocean which is vast has greater thermal energy than cup of coffee. When we compare the temperatures of coffee and pacific ocean hot cup of coffee has a greater temperature as it comprises boiling water.

Therefore the correct answer for the given question is A

Water in pacific ocean has more thermal energy and a higher temperature.

The correct answer is Comparing a cup of hot coffee with the Pacific Ocean,

Water in the Pacific Ocean has more thermal energy and a lower temperature.

This is because Pacific Ocean contains more molecules which means it has more kinetic energy which creates more thermal energy.

Since coffee has less number of molecules, the molecules will move faster and its temperature will be higher.
