Compare and contrast cartilaginous and bony fishes.

The principal difference between bony fish and cartilaginous fish is in the skeleton makeup. As previously mentioned, bony fish have a bone skeleton whereas cartilaginous fishhave a skeleton made of cartilage. There are, however, several other differences between these two classes of fish.

The comparison of the fishes named as cartilaginous and bony are given below in points -

1. The endoskeleton that is seen in the cartilaginous fish is cartilaginous. Whereas the endoskeleton that we can find in bony fish is bony.

2. The mouth in cartilaginous fishes is present in ventral region or area whereas mouth of bony fishes is seen in terminal regions or area.
