in animals,

  • furrow developers and the nucleus multiplies into two
  • and finally cell membrane develops and the two daughter cells are formed.

in plants,

  • cell plate formation takes place no cleavage is formed.
  • the vacuole gets divided.

A ring of actin filaments forms near the metaphase plate during cytokinesis in animal cells. Between the daughter cells of plant cells, a new cell wall must form.

Comparison for cytokinesis in animal and plant cells :

Cytokinesis in animal cells :

  • A ring of actin filaments forms near the metaphase plate during cytokinesis in animal cells. The ring shrinks, creating a cleavage furrow that splits the cell in half.
  • A cleavage furrow in animal cells pinches the cytoplasm into two almost equal portions.

Cytokinesis in plant cells :

  • Between the daughter cells of plant cells, a new cell wall must form.
  • Plant cells, on the other hand, have a cell plate that sits halfway between the split nuclei.
