Compare and contrast fossil fuels and the Sun as direct sources of energy.

Fossil fuels are obtained from underneath the earth’s crust. They are energy sources such as coal and petroleum. They can be used directly by the human beings so fossil fuels are the direct source of energy. Fossil fuels take millions of years for the formation and are very costly. On the other hand, solar energy is a direct source of energy and available free of cost.

1. Most of the fossil fuels are formed by the solar energy whereas the solar energy is result of nuclear reactions.

2. Fossils fuels cause pollution, where as the solar energy does not pollute environment.

3. Fossils fuels are non renewable sources of energy and solar energy is a renewable source of energy.
