The two islands have a sharp contrast on Gulliver's life and perception of himself. While in Lilliput, Gulliver is a giant and he is quite powerful as compared to the tiny Lilliputians. He is a force to reckon with in Lilliput and is a symbol of enormous power.
However, on the other hand, while in Brobdingnag, Gulliver is tiny and very powerless. He is smaller than most of the things in the island, including bugs and flies. He has no power as compared to what he felt while in Lilliput.
