A parallelism has been made between life and the Brook. There are a lot of similarities in the things the Brook experiences and what a man encounters. In the early days of life, a child is is very agile, energetic and lively just like the Brook in the initial stages of life.
It is very active and flows with great force and energy. the poet has used words like chatter, babble, sharps and trebles to describe the energetic movement of the Brook. The Brooks noisy flow is also similar to man's struggle against odds of life. The Brook like a human being supports and sustains life. The Brook when reaches the plains slows down and teh poet describes these movements using words like steal, slide, gloom, murmur. Here, again the comparison between the Brook and the man. Towards the end man like, the Brook too slows down and looses it's youthful energy.
