demerits of railways-
some passengers travel without the ticket
theft is always present in Indian railways
some passengers pull the chain of train and stop the train without any reason causing huge loss to railway property

merits of roadways-
roadways can traverse in undulating topographies like slopes etc
management and construction cost of roadways is cheaper than that of railways

demerits of roadways-
some people don't follow the traffic rules on the roads leading to the accidents
as there is traffic jam, the time of the passengers will get wasted
during rainy and winter seasons , fog and rain prevents the driver from driving the vehicles comfortably
