Answer:

The poem “The Harp of India” is a sonnet composed of an octave and a sestet. The octave presents the problem, that is, the lamentation on the glorious poetic tradition of India. It reflects the impact of colonization of indigenous literature in India. The octave portrays the forsaken harp, used as a metaphor to represent the loss of art and literature.

The sestet attempts to find a solution to the problem described in the octave. It describes the poets’ art and how the fame exists even after the death of artwork’s author. Poet  expresses his desire to revive the dying art of poetry of his country with his humble poetic abilities and make the skies of Indian literature reverberate with melody of poetic art just as a musician of a new generation revives a tradition of music with a musical instrument that had for a long period dwelt in oblivion and obscurity.
