Tommy's teacher was a mechanical teacher which was large and black with a big screen where the lessons were shown and questions were asked. It had specific slots for submitting homework and test papers. Each child had their own mechanical teacher which was placed in their room.

The old kind of school had teachers as man and not as mechanical teachers. He told the boys and girls things and gave them homework and asked them questions. They had a special building and all the kids from the entire neighbourhood went there.
