Compare between simple fruit and multiple fruit in two points. How can fruit play an important role for continuity of generation in plant life?
Answers
Answer:
Each seed contains a tiny plant called an embryo, which has root, stem and leaf parts ready to grow into a new plant when conditions are right. Another part of the flower (the ovary) grows to form fruit, which protects the seeds and helps them spread away from the parent plant to continue the cycle.
Comparison between simple fruit and multiple fruits:
Simple fruit:
- Simple fruit develops from one flower, which means one flower equals one fruit.
- They are derived from one ovary.
- Example: Peaches, Apple, Pears etc.
Multiple fruits:
- Multiple fruits are developed from clusters of several flowers.
- Example: Pineapples, figs etc.
Each fruit contains seeds which have the potential to grow into roots, stem and leafy parts in favourable conditions. These seeds get transported from the parent plant to other areas this is how a particular species of plant produce new progeny. The part of the flower called the ovary grows to form fruit later on it forms a fleshy protective layer around the seed helping them to spread to different parts where they grow into a new fully grown plant.
