Answer: Hypertonic solution - Hypertonic solution is a solution in which the water molecule content is very low. So , if we keep a cell in hypertonic solution , the cell will shrink as the cell has higher water molecule concentration. And the water flow from the cell to the outer solution . This process is called plasmolysis .

Isotonic solution - In isotonic solution the water molecule concentration is equal to the water molecule concentration inside the cell . So , if we keep a cell in isotonic solution , the water molecule concentration remains the same and there is no change in the cell . This is because water molecules move in both inside and outside direction. So the water molecule content remains the same and cell remains in the same state .

\sf\Large{\red{Isotonic:}}

  • Solution which has the same solute concentration as in another solution.
  • Cell shape in both cells remains unchanged.

\sf\Large{\red{Hypotonic:}}

  • Solution has lower concentration of solutes and more water than another solution.
  • Plant cell shows plasmolysis and plasma membrane in animal cell collapses or become crenated (exosmosis).

\sf\Large{\red{Hypertonic:}}

  • Solution has higher concentration of solutes(less water) than another.
  • Plant cell remains turgid and animal cells swells and bursts (endosmosis).
